Kitchen Towel Converting and Packing Line for South Africa
In 2024, a household paper manufacturer in South Africa added an integrated kitchen towel converting and packing line for its retail product range. The project focused on coordinating the stages after rewinding so finished rolls could move into packing with less intermediate handling.
Project Focus
The customer already supplied paper products to local wholesalers and retail outlets. Its main requirement was not simply higher rewinding speed, but a more organized route from finished kitchen towel logs to individual rolls, grouped packs, and the final collection area.
Before confirming the layout, the project team reviewed the finished roll diameter and width, core specification, sheets per roll, pack arrangement, packaging material, conveying direction, and available factory space.
Line Coordination
The equipment arrangement combined kitchen towel converting with downstream roll transfer, alignment, packing, and accumulation. During trial production, adjustments were made to perforation, roll firmness, transfer spacing, product orientation, and the timing between the converting and packing sections.
Particular attention was given to speed coordination. Running the rewinder faster than the downstream equipment could receive the rolls would only create accumulation, so the line was tested as a complete process rather than as separate machines.
Result
After commissioning, finished rolls moved through the downstream sections in a clearer and more controlled sequence. The customer reduced unnecessary handling between converting and packing, while grouped products arrived at the collection area in a more consistent arrangement.
The connected workflow also made production planning easier because the team could evaluate rewinding, roll transfer, packing, and finished-product collection as one operating line.
For a similar kitchen towel project, provide the parent-roll specification, finished roll dimensions, core size, perforation length, pack arrangement, packaging material, target output, and factory layout before finalizing the equipment configuration.
