01 / INSIDE THE DOUBLE WORKSHOP
Steel-to-Steel Embossing Unit
A closer look at the rollers that give tissue its embossed texture.

Close-up of the steel-to-steel embossing assembly in our workshop

Step inside the DOUBLE workshop for a closer look at tissue converting and packaging equipment. This
photo collection highlights four assemblies: steel-to-steel embossing, parent roll unwinding, glue
application and packaging film unwinding.
The steel-to-steel embossing unit uses paired steel rollers to form a pattern in the tissue web. The

photograph shows the textured roller surfaces and their supporting frame. Roller pattern, alignment and
pressure settings are important considerations when matching the embossing process to the tissue
grade and desired finish.

Parent Roll Unwinding Stand
The starting point for feeding tissue into the converting process.

Parent rolls mounted on the unwinding stands, with tissue routed over guide rollers.

The parent roll unwinding stand, also known as an unwind stand or backstand, supports the large tissue

rolls that supply the converting machine. In this workshop view, the tissue webs travel from the mounted
rolls over guide rollers toward the next processing section.

This arrangement makes the roll positions and paper path easy to see. When planning a tissue

converting line, parent roll width, roll diameter, core size and web tension requirements should be
considered together. Matching the unwind section to the incoming material is an important part of line

configuration.

Glue Application Unit

A detailed view of the glue application section and tissue web path.

Detail of the glue application assembly, adjacent roller and tissue web.

This close-up shows the glue application section of our tissue converting equipment, including the

adjacent roller, tissue web and mounted mechanical components. The detailed view brings attention to
an assembly that is less visible in a full-machine photograph.

In tissue glue lamination, adhesive is applied to help bond paper plies together. Glue application is one

part of that process; its setup should be matched to the tissue, adhesive and required bonding pattern.

Packaging Film Unwinding Unit

Following the film path from the supply rolls to the packaging section.

Film roll holders and a multi-roller film path on the tissue packing machine.

The packaging film unwinding unit holds the film supply and guides it toward the wrapping section. This

workshop photograph shows the roll holders and a series of guide rollers that define the film path
through the assembly.

Film handling is an important part of tissue packaging. Film width, roll dimensions, material properties

and the required pack format all influence the appropriate setup. Matching these requirements to the
packing machine helps establish a practical configuration for the finished tissue product.
